“If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours.”

I love making people smile.

It’s what gets me out of bed in the morning.

Whether that means fixing a toothache that has kept someone up for the last 5 days, using a light touch to tweak the shape of that funny tooth or doling out stickers and toys to little brushers. The goal is the same - to provide skilled dental care to those who need it.

Smiling actually tricks your brain into being happy. And having the confidence to smile can help with jobs and relationships in every facet of life. I feel lucky to have fallen into a profession where I have the ability to give a smile to others.

I believe that success as a health practitioner means not only improving the dental health of the people you see every day at work but also helping to spread information to improve the dental health of their friends, family, and generations to come. Seeing my patients change from those who would let things fall apart out of fear or lack of understanding to those who can’t wait to get onto smaller problems before they grow out of proportion is such a rewarding feeling. It sounds crazy, but I’m happiest as a dentist when I’m not fixing problems - if I can help my patients avoid these it means I’ve done my job in taking care of them.
